Thanksgiving 2020

Yesterday was Canadian Thanksgiving l. I decided to change up our Thanksgiving dinner just a little bit. I’m not going to give you a profound speech because I mean it’s 2020. Nothing is like it should be.

I always look for simple, foolproof and inexpensive recipes for my family. With 5 kids running around the house I always strive for taste and convenience. The aesthetics can wait until the kids are teenagers

Scroll down to see my suggestions for a tasty and simple Thanksgiving.

This year I decided to make turkey! Just the turkey breast though. I got 2 lbs of turkey breast and used this Recipe as a guide. I baked the turkey for 1 hour, used 2 lemons ( cut in half and faced down) placed them in the pan, added chicken broth and a mixture of paprika and basil with 2 pinches of salt.

Potatoes are a must. I just grabbed 6 potatoes and cut them in quarters. Added it to the pan with the turkey breast and added a pich of salt.

I also made buns with this amazing and quick Recipe

This one I kept the same. I used frozen corn, just added a cup of chicken broth and 1/4 cup of butter. It was in the oven for 20 min on the top rack.

I completely forgot to buy cranberries or premade cranberry sauce. Used this Recipe as a guide. I used sugar cane instead of brown suger and some mix fruit salad I found in the fridge.

For the past decade I’ve been making apple pies on Thanksgiving. This year, I just couldn’t see my self rolling the dough and be detailed oriented. I went for an apple cobbler Recipe . I followed it almost exactly. At the end I added a bit more cinnamon and brown sugar.

Thanksgiving 2020 is a wrap. I know now that I can make turkey and the apple cobbler is here to stay at least until the triplets are 5 years old!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
