In recent years, we’ve heard Margaret Atwood’s name quite a bit. The Handmaid’s Tale TV show has been a successful hit. The story has also been relevant in the women’s movements, specially in the U.S.A. I have never read her books but today that is going to change. As you know by now I got a bunch of kids running around. Whenever I get the chance to read a book I use ebooks. I would prefer to read the printed version but I can’t risk going to the library or having the kids rip the book apart. Today, I logged into the library’s catalog and I went to look for the Handsmaid’s Tale. All the copies are checked out so I browsed to see what else was there. I came across Moral Disorder. I liked the cover, it was available and I checked it out.. Today I’ll start reading the book… I’ll try my best to finish it by the 12th! Happy Reading!

Shred

Who else has a place where they throw most of their mail? For me… is a diaper box. Most of the mail has been open when received. The issue is that I don’t organize it or shred it. In this box…I found cellphone bills from 4 years ago. Last year we moved, I was so exhausted from packing and taking […]

Plastics

For the past 15 years the term “Global Warming” or “Climate Change” has been used a lot. Some people say is happening, others say is fear mongering.ย  I’m not here to debate whether is real or not. What I want to do is to be more conscious about my daily choices and how they affect other beings. Growing up, I was introduced to the importance of preserving the ecosystem and learned some things that I could do to help the environment as well as people. Even after that, it wasn’t until the year 2011 when I started to recycle, throw food scraps in the waste and garbage in the garbage bin. I still don’t do enough, but I have pick up some habits to reduce the amount of garbage we produce. I love to use straws, so what I do is reuse straws. I wash them with soap and water, air dry it and put them in a container so they don’t get damaged. Yes, In Ontario, Canada we use bagged milk, the amount of single use plastic in the package is embarrassing. As a family we have cut back on the consumption of cow milk. At the grocery store we found bottled organic milk. The milk is expensive, for 1 litre we pay $6.00 CAD plus tax. There are 7 of us, that means we would need 2 bottles a day of milk. We like to bake a lot […]

Spa time…

As a mom of 5 kids… I barely get time to sleep… so thinking about or having some “me time” is not a priority. In a perfect world… I would get my hair cut, wash and blow dry every couple of months, I would go to the nail salon twice a month and keep my nails long. But I don’t live in a perfect world but one full of little kids and adult dilemmas. Today, I had a doctor’s appointment. Hubby took care of the triplets and I didn’t have to pick up the older 2 kids for 4 hours. I decided to get my nails done… It felt amazing, I was able to relax and do something just for me. As a mother and woman is easy to just not do some things because there is always something more important. Someone always needs you and your image takes a back sit. I know this doesn’t happen to every women of mother but it has happened to me. At this moment my appearance is not as important. Hubby asks me at least once a month if I need some alone time… I usually say no. I’ve become so immerse in being a mom, wife and full time student that other things just don’t matter. Once in a while I need to step out of my routine and take care of myself. With everything that is going on in my life… […]

Closet

Oh, my closet โ€ฆ. the space where no trend is followed anymore. In my teen and early 20โ€™s I spent quite a bit of time roaming the racks of Forever 21, Urban Planet and Stitches (Canadian stores). I bought a lot of junk, usually would not even try the clothes in the store because I was to lazy. Some clothes […]

Art

In the summer months I took an art class. I learned about the cave paintings in Altamira to Pop Art all the way to the 90’s it was intense but interesting. I have never put a painting on the wall of any of the places I’ve lived…but I think it’s time to change that. On Friday I went to the […]
